Nana Kojo Asare

Atentenben

Nana is a flutist from Accra, Ghana. He plays a traditional Ghana bamboo flute called the atentenben. He composes many of the songs for Omanye Music, and brings many years of experience playing traditional African music with groups such as Pan African Orchestra, Pan African Youth Orchestra, Asesegwa Music, and Hewale Sounds. He is the leader of Omanye Music.

Kwame “Wadada” Letsa

Gyil

Kwame began playing the Gyil, a traditional Ghanaian xylophone, and dancing to African music at a young age. He was selected to join Ghana's youth orchestra, comprising the country's most talented traditional musicians. Following junior high school, Kwame joined Agorsor Music, which later evolved into Gouda Music.

Kwame also performed with the Pan African Orchestra while still a member of Gouda Music. After relocating to the United States in 2011, Kwame recorded and performed with various artists before joining friends to form Omanye Music. Kwame currently plays the Gyil with Omanye.

Kwandahor Bortey

Drums

Kwandahor is king of the Gome bass drum. His talents are in his genes, as he is following in the footsteps of his father who was also a musician. He played with Pan African Youth Orchestra and Womba Africa before joining Omanye.

Nii Tetteh Quarshie

Dance & Percussion

Nii Tetteh Quarshie is a dancer and choreographer. He brings many years of dance experience, as he started dancing at the age of 7. He is following in the footsteps of his father who also was a musician and traveled throughout the United States, Australia, and Ghana. In addition to dancing and choreographing, he sings, and plays the asaloto shakers, drums, and other instruments.

Odai Laryea

Drums

Odai is a Master Drummer from Ghana, a title that is held by very few people. Ghana is a diverse country made up of many ethnic groups; each of which has their own unique musical instruments. A Master Drummer is someone that can play almost all of the cultural instruments from all of the ethnic groups in Ghana.

Afotey Odai

Dance & Percussion

Afotey has been dancing since the young age of 10 first within his own family group. He has danced with Salaca Ensemble, The Ghana Dance Ensemble, and Womba Africa. He sings and plays the Maracas and other instruments.
